About AMD

The AMD – Portuguese Association of Direct and Digital Marketing , was founded in 1987 – at the time AVENCO – as a business association, bringing together the main companies in the sector.

AMD is the only association representing the activity of Direct Marketing and Distance Selling in Portugal.

AMD represents more than 20 companies, from the most diverse areas, but which develop commercial activities in the scope of Direct Marketing, Digital Marketing, Distance Selling and Ecommerce.

AMD permanently supports all Associates in the multiple legal and legal aspects directly linked to the activity of Direct Marketing, Distance Selling, Data Protection, Electronic Commerce, Advertising, among others.

Having decided by the European Commission that in 2011 the European Data Protection Directive would be revised and updated, through a Regulation, AMD, both in Brussels and in Lisbon, dedicated special attention and commitment to this matter, in defense of the interest of our Members and the Market in general.

AMD is a founding partner of FEDMA (Federation of European Data and Marketing) and Advertising Self-Regulation (ICAP at the time of foundation).

Our Mission

AMD is committed to promoting and developing Direct and Digital Marketing in collaboration with regulators, to promote practices based on ethical values, rigor and transparency, as well as on the training and qualification of professionals in the sector, to foster innovation, to provide information and to support the market and stakeholders, in full respect for Consumer Rights and in the defense of the interests of Members.

Our Vision

To contribute to the dynamism and growth of the Market through partnerships with the most diverse interlocutors, the promotion of debates on the challenges and opportunities that the sector faces and innovation in integrated communication technologies, in a passionate way and with a true spirit of mission.

Our Goals

  1. Organization of representation and defense of the general interest of Members (Art. 3 – AMD Statutes);

  2. To favor good understanding and solidarity among the Members;

  3. To collaborate with official bodies in the preparation and improvement of legislation related to the sector;

  4. Establish and implement instruments of self-discipline and fair practices, represent Members in national and international organizations;

  5. To protect Members from any restrictive legislation for the Industry, fostering a responsible attitude focused on full respect for consumer rights;

  6. To promote the Discipline of Direct and Digital Marketing, with the State, the media, operators and consumers, aiming at the development of the Market;

  7. To inform and support all public entities involved in the legislative and inspection process, the market and its stakeholders, the media and consumers, in general, on the advantages of the Direct Marketing activity;

  8. Create and disseminate policies of good practices – self-regulation;

  9. To support the Associated Companies in all aspects related to the activity and in accordance with the statutory rules.
